How it works

One note. Five parties. Signed as it moves.

The paper consignment note gets passed by hand and re-keyed at every stop. digitalEWC keeps a single record — each party opens it, completes their part, and signs, in order, on any device.

1

Holder

The person who owns the waste until it's disposed of — the local authority, site owner or business it came from.

2

Producer / Consignor

The contractor preparing the waste for collection. Opens the note, describes the waste by EWC code, and notifies the movement.

Part APart B
3

Carrier

Collects and transports the waste — fleet checked against DVLA. Signs the carrier's certificate; the consignor certifies the handover.

Part CPart D
4

Transfer station

Sorts, segregates and readies the waste for disposal, recycling or end-of-waste — and can add detail for the disposal site.

5

Consignee

The landfill, EfW or recovery site that receives the waste. Confirms receipt against each EWC code and closes the note.

Part E
What you get

Built for the whole waste chain.

Everything the note needs, and the compliance around it — for hazardous and non-hazardous waste alike.

♻

Every waste type

Hazardous and non-hazardous, classified by EWC code. Consignment notes for hazardous loads, transfer notes for the rest.

DEFRA tracking built in

Every movement is submitted to DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking automatically, and the returned Waste Tracking ID is stored on the record.

Validated parties & fleet

Organisations checked through the DWP portal and carrier vehicles validated against DVLA — so the note is right before it starts.

Access that fits the chain

Your team works across the account by role; external carriers and subcontractors are walled into the single project they're added to.

Audit-ready by default

Every part, timestamp and signature is kept immutably — one export for an EA inspection, nothing to reconstruct.

Compliance

Ready for the October 2026 mandate.

DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking becomes mandatory for waste receiving sites from October 2026, replacing paper waste transfer and consignment notes. digitalEWC is built around it — so you're not retrofitting compliance, you're starting with it.

Mandatory from
